By Suvd-Erdene Dashgaadan (Mongolia - Tumennast’s wife)

무궁화My life as Blooming Mugungwha

My beautiful memories and wonderful experiences in ITTP from 2013 to 2017.

My name is Suvdaa. I came to Korea with 2 years old my son Jacky in February 2013 to join my husband. I would like express my life in Korea as blooming “Mugunghwa” (Korean national flower무궁화; Rose of Sharon) which has 5 petal.

      무궁화  Wives Class

Professor Chun Young Suk had welcomed me in her class with open arms. In wives’ class, I had many wonderful friends from all around the world. Prof. Chun taught us not only the Korean language but also Korean cultures, helped adjusting in new environment. She brought us to museums, local markets, exhibition, and other places. Prof. Chun was very understanding and patient, she gave her all effort and time for us.

She embraced everyone with mother’s love and made an enormous effort to teach to every single of us. I have great friends: Bahia from Sudan, Raquel from Costa Rica, Binta and Betty from Nigeria, Intizor from Uzbekistan, Tehmina from Pakistan, Eva Kalenzi from Uganda, Phiona from Rwanda, and many others.

       무궁화  Korean Language

Learning Korean was very interesting journey for me. Prof. Chun had taught me until advanced level, thanks to her I passed TOPIK level 5, and KIIP program level 6. It made my life much easier; I didn’t have any problems in daily life with sending ours kids to school and helping their studies.

      무궁화  Trips

Korea has a lot offer in terms of natural beauty and sightseeing. With ITTP program we visited many beautiful places all around the Korea. ITTP organized and hosted family trip to Ulsan, Gyeongju, Andong and Jeonju. Especially Ulsan-Gyeongju 2-days trip was lovely, we had great time.

 무궁화 Family

We had our second son Tumenulzii in September 2014 and third son Munkhdalai in June 2017. Giving birth in foreign country far from your loved ones was quite challenging, but the support of Prof. Chun and ITTP family we managed it well. In addition, we really appreciate Prof. Rho, Prof. Chun and ITTP office celebrated together our kids’ one-year old birthdays, and hair-cutting ceremonies. We are deeply thankful for Prof. Chun helped us greatly, she loves my kids as their grandma. She even gifted baby crib to youngest son which was much needed.

 무궁화 Appreciation

I would like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Sharon (ITTP former coordinator) and her family for hosting Christmas parties in their home. My family and other ITTP friends we spent wonderful time eating delicious homemade food and enjoyed their family concerts.

In conclusion, it was our great journey to living together with my family in Korea, during my husband’s master’s and Ph. D. programs in ITTP. We had a lot of great memories with personal improvements, multi-cultural experience, awesome friends, family expansions and husband’s academic and professional developments. These all progress happens like a blooming “Mugunghwa” flower blessed by ITTP program.

Therefore, I do appreciate for ITTP KAIST program, and wives Korean class organizers, especially for Prof. Rho designed it, Prof. Chun managed wives’ class, ITTP coordinators and staffs assisted perfectly. Thanks for all of you, and greetings to all multi-cultural wives’ class colleagues, and ITTP friends who know us.
