A special story from Apollos Patricks Osoba Oghuma’s Wife!
“We shared and celebrated our cultural delicacies. It was a ONE BIG FAMILY INDEED!”
My days in South Korea are very beautiful and memorable with a little challenge which was the winter! Oh! how l loved the snow but I never liked the freezing cold.
The journey to Korea began in the year 2012 when my husband Dr. Patricks Oghuma was granted an admission to study a Doctorate Degree in ITTP Program after bagging a Master Degree in the same program. What a RARE opportunity given to him by Prof. Jae Jeung Rho for which we remain grateful. My children and I arrived Korea on the 12th of February, we were welcomed by the cold weather.
The Koreans were very friendly and welcoming. I made a lot of friends. It felt as though I was home. I looked forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays where all the ITTP wives were taught the Korean language by Prof. Chun. We also had opportunities to go on cultural trips with the ITTP students. The trips were so enlightening and interesting.
The wife’s class had so much fun like going out for shopping at Costco and special lunch outings with the guidance of Prof. Chun. We lived as one big family sharing in one another's joys and pains. We shared and celebrated our cultural delicacies. It was a ONE BIG FAMILY INDEED!
The children were not left out; every year Prof. Jae Jeung Rho hosted Christmas party for them having every child gifted with a wonderful Christmas present. My children, David and Rhoda, learnt a lot in the Korean kindergarten also.
We enjoyed special Korean dishes like Bibimbab, Doenjjang jjigae, Galbi, Samgyetang, Gimbab, Bulgogi, ddaboki, samgyepsal, and lastly dakkalbi which was our family’s Sunday special dinner.
We sincerely and eagerly look forward to living in Korea again. Korea is a beautiful country with beautiful hearts.
Let me end by thanking Prof. Jae Jeung Rho for this laudable opportunity given my husband and family. It surely remains a part of our treasured family moments. God bless Korea! God bless Nigeria! God bless ITTP! And God bless us all, amen.
Thank you for reading….
