July 11, we organized a Sambok event at the cafeteria and the student lounge.

"Sambok" is the hottest period of the year in Korea, based on the lunar calendar.  There are three days during this period: Chobok, Joongbok, and Malbok. Each day represents the beginning, middle, and end of the period. On the day of Chobok, we enjoyed a traditional dish called Samgyetang.

Our ancestors rejuvenated in Korean culture by eating hot Samgyetang to beat the hot summer. Eating cold food suddenly because the weather is hot can cause stomach upset and diarrhea, so it protects the inside of the stomach with warm food.

Afterward, we arranged an event where students could make and enjoy a special dessert. Students prepared and ate Patbingsu, a dessert that Koreans enjoy in summer. ???? Patbingsu can be customized with various toppings, including rice cakes and cereals, according to individual preferences. Everyone was amazed by the shaved ice they had made for the first time, and it was a time to make memories by tasting it.

I hope the event provided a valuable and enjoyable experience for all GDI students to experience Korean culture.
